Let x and y be the numbers such that xy = 75…..(i) Also x + y = 20 => x = 20 – y. Put it in equation (i) we get (20 – y) y = 75 => y2 – 20 y + 75 = 0 => y = 5 or 15. If y = 5 => x =15 or y = 15 => x = 5. So the difference is 10.
