DIRECTIONS for the question: The question below is followed by two statements marked I and II. Mark as your answer.
If ‘a’ and ‘b’ are integers, isan integer?
Statement 1: ‘a’ is divisible by 5 and ‘b’ is divisible by 6
Statement 2: ‘a’ is multiple of 6 which is one-tenth the value of ‘b’
A)
If the data in statement (1) alone is sufficient to answer the question
B)
If the data in statement (2) alone is sufficient to answer the question
C)
If the data in both the statements together are needed to answer the question
D)
If either statement (1) alone or statement (2) alone is sufficient to answer the question
E)
If neither statement (1) nor statement (2) suffices to answer the question
B
Statement I: It is not sufficient as ‘a’ which is divisible by 5 may or may not be divisible by 6. The same is the case for ‘b’ also.
Statement II: It is given that a = 6x for some integer ‘x’. Also 6x = b/10 ⇒ b = 60x. So b is also a multiple of 5. Hence the given expression is an integer.
