GRE Registration 2023: Complete Guide
Before applying for GRE, you must be aware of the related rules and conditions laid down by ETS.
Things to Consider
  • Prior to choosing your GRE exam date, check the application deadlines of your desired colleges/universities, so that your scores are reported within time. GRE scorecards are sent to your selected institutes around 10-15 days after your test. Experts recommend that you should apply for GRE nearly 60 - 90 days before the first university deadline. With this approach, you would have sufficient time in hand to re-appear for the test, if required.
  • There needs to be a gap of 21 days between your GRE attempts. GRE General Test can be taken five times in a rolling 12-month period. This applies even if you have canceled your previous test scores.
  • The test dates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and some of the test centres are available only on certain dates. You must create an ETS account to stay abreast of the up-to-date information. So, keep a tab on the latest dates and apply well in time.
  • Decide which fellowship sponsors or grad schools you want to receive your scores. You can choose a maximum of four institutions while registering for GRE. If you want to send your scorecard later or to more than four schools, you can get the additional scorecards for a specified fee.
  • You can use the GRE Search Service to look for information about some of the participating graduate/ business/ law schools, fellowship sponsors and related organizations. This service will let you know about the scholarships, fellowships admissions, and other opportunities offered by different institutes/universities. During GRE registration, you will see an option to sign up for its Search Service. Also, you can use/sign up on this tool any time from your ETS account.
GRE Registration Dates 2023

The remote-proctored (at home) version of GRE General Test is available round the clock, all days of the week, and you can register for it as early as 24 hours before. The subject tests are not available in home-based format.
